Our Story

The idea for Vellie began when its founder, Sarah, wanted to support a friend going through a divorce. She found a cozy blanket, left it on her friend’s doorstep with a note saying, “Wrap yourself up in this and know you are supported and loved.” This simple, heartfelt gesture served as a lasting reminder of her support network. The act of giving was as uplifting for Sarah as it was comforting for her friend, affirming her belief that “what we give, we also receive.”
A guiding inspiration for Sarah has been Dr. Maya Angelou. Reflecting on Vellie's purpose, Sarah recalled Dr. Angelou's quote: "I've had so many rainbows in my clouds... and the thing to do, it seems to me, is to prepare yourself so that you can be a rainbow in somebody else's cloud." Sarah, inspired by her own "rainbows"—those who supported her through challenging times—made a promise to one day spread that same love and kindness.
